BELGRADE -- The 70th anniversary of suffering of Serbs, Jews and Roma in Jadovno Ustasha concentration camp is marked today in the Croatian village of Jadovno near Velebit.
According to different data, about 40,000 people were killed in the concentration camp from May until August 1941. More than 90 percent of them were Serbs. Serbian President Boris Tadić will attend the commemoration and Croat President Ivo Josipović, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and Republic of Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik will send special envoys.
One of the commemoration organizers and Serbian National Council President Milorad Pupavac has said that Tadić's arrival to celebration of the 20th anniversary of Croatia's independence and the Jadovno commemoration should not cause negative reactions in Croatia. ...more:
