[1]Jadranka Jelinčić, director of the Open Society Fund Serbia [2], said at the presentation of a report on political plurality of media contents in Serbia, on June 28, 2011, that the media that allow the citizens to exercise their right to information are a part of the public space and domain, which has been closing for the citizens and allows access only to certain social strata and groups.
Jelinčić noted that the findings of the Report could help in the preparation of future media strategies and legislation. Dragana Nikolić Solomon, representative of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, said that the survey didn’t aim to criticize individual media outlets.
“It is tie to put the spot-lights and follow how citizens are informed in Serbia”, Nikolić-Solomon said.
The survey included Serbian Radio and Television and Stuidio B TV station which, according to the Report, provide little space to opposition parties and economic issues in their main news programmes, and focus much more on national and municipal administrations and their activities.
The survey also included Blic, Danas, Kurir, Večernje novosti, Politika and Pres daily newspapers, and NIN, Vreme and Pečat weeklies. The survey was supported by OSCE Mission and the Open Society Fund. (Source: CRNPS [3])
